The Three Days Before (AKA lots of flowers!)

Thursday
This was the first day before the wedding that I wasn't working and I was so looking forward to. It was so nice to just focus on weddings stuff without being at work. It was also the day that the flowers arrived!

From the beginning I knew I wanted to do the flowers myself, for many reasons. I like doing crafty stuff, it's much less expensive, and I didn't want anything super complected. Honestly the hardest part about doing them myself was figuring out how many of each thing to get. I ordered all of the flowers and greenery from Fifty Flowers and was very happy with them. After placing the order they call to confirm the order and delivery date, as certain types of flowers need more or less time to open up. They all arrived on time and as expected, so I was happy. I'd definitely recommend them if you're looking to order flowers in bulk!

Here's the summary of what I ordered:
Red Carnation Flowers - 200 stems - $120
Israeli Ruscus Greenery - 15 bunches - $140

How they all arrived:

Silver dollar eucalyptus, seeded eucalyptus, and baby eucalyptus.

Here's what we used the greenery and flowers for:
- 1 bridal bouquet
- 3 bridesmaid bouquets
- 1 toss bouquet
- 4 boutonnieres
- table decorations (3 vases on each table with a few stems in each)

In the end the amount of carnations and Israeli ruscus ended up being perfect. We definitely had way more eucalyptus than we needed, especially since I was using the ruscus as the main greenery. Also, all of the eucalyptus starts to fade and get droopy not long after being removed from the water, so on the wedding day they started to wilt fairly quickly. The carnations and ruscus on the other hand could have gone another day or two at least. They're both very hearty.

After the flowers were delivered we trimmed the ends and put them into 5 gallon buckets filled with water. With Tiana, Alina, and I going at it, it didn't take very long to do all of the flowers and greenery.

The poor carnation.

After all the flowers were trimmed and in water, we made a Costco run with my parents, Kaleb's dad, and Amy to get drinks for the reception.

Then there was just lots of relaxing and hanging out playing video games.

Friday
Prepping all of the vases for table centerpieces! They're a collection of ones my mom and I got from World Market (free with rebates!), Goodwill, Ikea, and garage sales.

Along with with some family, Bethany and Evangeline came over and helped us with whatever we needed. That included taking price stickers off all of the vases, carrying most of my clothes over to the new apartment, and eating lots of food. My apartment was the wedding hub where we were doing everything and storing everything before leading up to the event, so everyone would meet at my place to any wedding related activity. There were people in and out all afternoon and it was fun seeing so many people!
That evening I was really needing some time away from all the socializing, so Kaleb and I went to my favorite gluten-free place with teriyaki then browsed Target afterwards. We ended up coming home with a bunch of the Disney Thomas Kinkade puzzles.

Saturday

Making the bouquets!
The main task on Saturday was to make all of the bouquets and boutonnieres. Months earlier Carrie and I had gone to Michael's and gotten floral tape, white and red ribbons, lace on a spool, and pins, so we had everything we needed the day of. We all helped each other make our bouquets that morning. If I remember correctly we used 5 carnations for each bridesmaids bouquet and 7 in mine, then filled them in with lots of greens. The bridemaids were wrapped with a white sheer ribbon with a red bow and mine in a white lace ribbon. We also made the boutonnieres right after, followed by trimming the remaining carnations and ruscus to be good heights to be put in the vases for the vases on the tables.

We pretty much had The Brady Bunch in the background 24/7.

Playing some Mario Kart
