Wedding Shows, Dress Shopping, and Engagement Rings
Seattle Wedding Show
Bright and early on January 12th we made our way to the Washington State Convention Center for the Seattle Wedding Show. By this point we were already doing paperwork for a venue and had a photographer picked out, so we mostly went for the experience and to see what it was like. There were so many vendors, largely for venues, photographers, and caterers/bakeries a fashion show, and lots of wedding dresses. There was one boutique there, Tulip Bridal, where I tried on my very first wedding dress. It didn't fit well, but I did like the overall style of it.
Dress Shopping at David's Bridal
The following weekend, on January 19th, I had my first appointment at a bridal shop, David's Bridal. Since my family doesn't live in state anymore I asked Carrie and Katie to come with me, which I really appreciated.
I was on the fence about having a floor length or shorter dress. Having a shorter dress would be much more practical for lindy hop, because you know there will be a lot of dancing at our wedding, but on the other hand floor length dresses, especially with a tulle skirt, are so much more magical.
This was the first dress I tried on. It had a shorter skirt, and if I got it I would definitely hem it a bit shorter. I liked it, but wasn't in love with it. Adding the belt helped, as having a defined waistline is a thousand times more flattering on my shape.

The second dress was my favorite and if I ended up going for a floor length dress, I would've ended up with something very similar to this one. I really liked the style of lace on the bodice and the tulle skirt. The back of the bodice was also really pretty. I also tried on a couple veils, but ultimately decided not to go with one.
The third dress which was a similar cut to the one before, but without any gathered tulle at the waist, which I didn't think was as flattering.
The last dress was my least favorite. The different angled and layered tulle wasn't my jam and the neckline just didn't work for me.
Some video flips of me trying on each of the dresses.
Ring Shopping
After trying on dresses and saying good-bye to Carrie and Katie, Kaleb and drove a few minutes down the road to Shane Co. The goal was to browse engagement rings and wedding bands, but Kaleb ended up purchasing an engagement ring that afternoon.
It was kinda funny because I didn't really want an engagement ring, mostly because I only wanted to wear my wedding band once we got married. We weren't sure what we wanted to do, especially since Kaleb wanted to get me an engagement ring, but while we were there they suggested that we could get an engagement ring, then later put the diamond into a pendant so I could still wear and get use out of it. That was a suggestion that we both really liked, so that's what we did! But it was funny because the lady helping us quickly realized that I really didn't want an engagement ring and just wanted something super simple, so even when she was suggesting rings that were more fancy, she was like, you're probably not going to want this, but I'll at least try. XD I honestly had barely any requirements except that I just wanted something simple.
In the end we got a super simple ring with a beautiful diamond. I really like that I can still wear and get use out of it even though it's not in a ring anymore. Having just a band to wear now that we're married has been so perfect for me.
Afterwards we were famished and trekked to McMenamins where we ate way too much food and kept telling each other the rest of the night how full we were.
