The Ceremony || The Wedding

After some more time had passed, it was time to finally get married! I wasn't nervous or emotional at all, which isn't too surprising as I don't usually get caught up in the moment, but more so afterwards when reflecting on what happened. I didn't shed a tear the whole day, I was to happy!

All of us lined up in this tiny room at the back of the deck. Then sharply at 3pm (you all know how punctual I am, this wedding was going to start on time!) Rainbow Connection by Vitamin String Quartet started playing and our parents and bridal party walked down the isle.


Then Can't Help Falling in Love by Ingrid Michaelson started playing.


What you would know unless you were there is that my dad and Kaleb did a Happy Salmon handshake just moments before this was taken. If you're played the game, you know what I'm talking about.

Looking back at all our friends and family.


We both secretly wrote our vows to each other. We both had close friends help review them and give feedback (and let's be real, Carrie was fixing all my grammatical errors, lol), but this was when we got to read and promise them to each other.

First time announced as Mr. and Mrs. Elwert!

We exited to fun music. More on that later.

We talked a day or two prior about Kaleb picking me up when we exited, but spaced in the moment, so when I brought it up he did this.


Our first kiss and exit, with music that we kept a surprise from almost everyone, but especially my Star Wars loving family.

Finding Shoes Finding the right pair of shoes was quite the challenge. Ideally I wanted something red, but it's hard to find red flats in general, let alone in a size 5.5W. Finding plain flats in that size is nearly impossible. But one day I had the realization that I should've been looking in the kids section as there are more colorful options and the equivalent sizes are usually a bit wider. I ordered 5 different pairs of flats from the kids section on Amazon and ended up keeping two pairs. The original plan was to wear the red ones for the wedding and the silver ones to my bridal shower. I did that, but also brought the silver ones the day of the wedding and I'm really glad I did, as after not too long the red ones became really uncomfortable on my heel so I switched out after pictures to the silver ones. First Dance + Snowball || The Wedding

After we all were fed, it wouldn't be long before the band started and the dancing begun. Evelynn warming up the dance floor. Saying hi to Jonathan Doyle, our bandleader for the evening. When we decided we were having a band, Doyle was our top pick for bandleader, so we were soooooo happy when we found out he was available and we were able to book him! Since Kaleb and I are pretty involved in the Seattle lindy hop community, we're blessed to know so many amazing jazz musicians, so we were super excited to pick a few favorites to play as a trio at our reception. In addition to the wonderful Jonathan Doyle, we had Jen Hodge and Josh Roberts. Gosh, what a lineup! Time for the first dance! We weren't super picky on first dance songs, and honestly we were having trouble finding something that stood out to us more, but we ended up deciding on Exactly Like You. Booking Vendors

Choosing a Photographer Let's be real: this was one of the hardest vendors for me. Being that I'm a photographer myself means I'm pretty picky, but then you add the fact that I'm also very budget conscious and that makes it even harder. A lot of the photographers whose style I really liked were starting close to double of what we wanted to pay, which I totally get, but wasn't in the budget for us. So I was really thankful when our good friend Katie (hi Katie!) one evening at Eastside Stomp mentioned that her sister is a wedding photographer and that she'd be able to fit in my budget and that she thought I'd like her style. We checked out Aspired Photography out and booked her ASAP! Though her editing style is a little different than what I usually go for, it fit well with her photos and I really liked how many good candid shots she had, which is something that's very important to me.
